Our Review of Weihenstephaner Original Premium Lager
I previously have had one beer from Weihenstephaner, their Vitus strong wheat beer. It was one of the best beers I have ever had, but with the 7.7% ABV, a bit too heavy to just “have a beer.” In general, my preference is lagers and pilsners and I shy away from sours, flavored beers and even most IPAs. So I was excited to try Weihenstephaner Original Premium.
This is one of the best beers I have ever had. I like “beer that tastes like beer” and Original Premium tastes exactly like that – smooth, crisp, clean, refreshing and no aftertaste. It is perfect to drink anytime, anywhere, inside or outside, with or without food. It will jump to the top tier of my rotation of beers. I recommend it highly for anyone who prefers lagers and pilsners.
For other excellent German beer recommendations, try Ayinger OktoberFest, Warsteiner German Pilsener, Franziskaner Weissbier and Weihenstephaner Vitus.
