Our Review of Warsteiner Pilsner
I immediately loved this beer from the first sip. It what a beer should taste like – smooth, refreshing, no bitter or strange aftertaste. I went back to look at the Beer Advocate reviews to see why the rating was just “Okay.” Most of the reviews were very positive but only 3 to 3.5 out of 5, which does not correlate. I have tried to read descriptions of the differences between Czech, German and American pilsners, but for the most part I can’t make heads or tails out of them. The Czechs invented the pilsner, but I believe they are more bitter than German ones. I recommend Warsteiner German Pilsener to anyone looking for a smooth and refreshing pilsner at any time by itself or with a meal. As a bonus, it is not expensive for a German import. We found it at Trader Joe’s at $7.99 for a 6 pack.
For other excellent German beer recommendations, try Franziskaner Weissbier and Weihenstephaner Vitus.
