Franziskaner Weissbier Distribution
Anheuser-Busch imports Franziskaner Weissbier from Germany under the name Import Brands Alliance. Other than the St. Louis location for Import Brands Alliance listed on the bottle, it is hard to place the beer as having anything to with Anheuser-Busch, which is good for them. Since they distribute it in the United States, there is broad distribution to grocery store chains, liquor store chains and more. The beer is easy to find to purchase.
German-Style Hefeweizen Beer
Franziskaner Weissbier is a German-style Hefeweizen. CraftBeer.com describes German-Style Hefeweizen as “Arguably one of the most recognizable beer styles, the German-style hefeweizen offers a striking beer experience thanks to the use of distinctive wheat malt, unique yeast and uncharacteristic appearance. This wheat beer breaks from the German beer mold, showcasing yeast-driven fruit and spice as well as bearing an eye-catching mystique. Don’t let the cloudy hefeweizen deter you, this beer is one of the world’s most enjoyable styles for beer geeks and neophytes, alike. The refreshing qualities of this highly-carbonated style have kept it alive for centuries. Try one for yourself and experience why that is, firsthand.” See more at CraftBeer.com.
Franziskaner Weissbier
Franziskaner Brewery has been brewing in Germany since 1363. It is subject to the high standards of the German Purity Law. The brewery describes Franziskaner Weissbier as “a natural and elegant wheat beer protagonist from Bavaria with a lush white foam. The copper-gold wheat beer with yeasty opalescence unfolds an aromatic scent with harmonious fruitiness in which bananas and citrus fruits greet you. The higher carbon dioxide content makes it particularly tangy and sparkling. Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Naturtrüb develops its distinctive, particularly fresh, subtly spicy and fruity taste with a mild, sweet finish when you swallow it with pleasure.
The naturally cloudy Franziskaner is just the thing for an enjoyable and relaxed break after work, in the bar, at a restaurant or at home. Independent, honest and friendly. Franziskaner Naturtrüb goes perfectly with meat dishes – best straight from the grill.”
Franziskaner Weissbier has a 5% ABV, 2.8g protein, 11.6 carbs, 0g fat, a 12 IBU and 153 calories. It has an “Outstanding” rating on Beer Advocate.
Our Review of Franziskaner Weissbier
We went to a Memorial Day weekend barbecue with bratwursts, beer and more. The three beer choices were Blue Moon, Longboard Lager and Franziskaner Weissbier. I had never heard of Franziskaner, but saw it was obviously from Germany and a hefeweizen. This may have been the easiest beer decision in history given the alternatives and the bratwurst pairing. I took one sip and said out loud, “this is great.” The beer is incredibly smooth and drinkable but still with a robust taste. It was very refreshing by itself and paired well with the bratwurst. If I wasn’t driving, I might have had them all. It is the best new beer I have tasted in a long time and I plan to add it to my beer rotation. The “Outstanding” rating on Beer Advocate is spot on.
