MGM Grand has rolled out its newest online suite of games which will bring the excitement, bustle and sounds of a Las Vegas casino right into the homes of players around the world.
“Live From Las Vegas,” which launched earlier this year, brings real live dealers that are working right on MGM Grand’s casino floor into the homes of players, giving them a taste of Las Vegas that can only be found on the Strip.
The suite allows players “to participate in games like blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and a betting version of Family Feud from nearly a dozen countries, including the UK, Brazil, Mexico, and Canada,’” according to Las Vegas News Channel 3.
“You can have thousands of players at the same session, and that’s the really exciting part about all of this,” said Vic Shrestha, vice president of online gaming at MGM Resorts.
The platform allows the specialty trained dealers that operate in front of cameras in an area at MGM Grand to interact and talk to the players as they play the table games together. Real casino guests can be seen walking in the background, adding to the atmosphere.
“You would see a very personable game presenter, and they’re going to be very engaging,” Shrestha said.
The new platform required the casino to hire and specially train 90 dealers, all who work under stage names to protect their identities while on performing and dealing on camera.
“Everybody has a stage name. Sometimes the stage name changes, and they’re really, like, almost acting,” Shrestha said.
And while they are trained to perform well online as entertainers, they dealers still must perform all the duties of a casino dealer, including identifying the warning signs of problem gambling.
“Not only are our team trained on the responsible gaming software solutions that are actually built in for moderation,” Shrestha said.
Because of regulatory rules, the suite of live games offered by MGM Grand is not available to players in the United States, but that will most likely change in the future.
While many online casino offer a version of floor gambling with live dealers — broadcast from what looks like warehouses — this is the first time a site is broadcasting directly from a casino floor.
