The 1990s Buffalo Bills have met their poker match with David Coleman, an American poker star, booking four runner-up finishes the past week during the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona series.
Longtime NFL fans will recall the Bills losing in the Super Bowl four consecutive years from 1991-1994. Coleman, one of the top high-stakes players in the world, like the Bills in football, pulled off one of the most impressive runs in EPT, and possibly poker, history that doesn’t involve winning a title. And, even more importantly for him, he cashed for more than $2 million.
David Coleman’s Huge Week of Poker

Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) famously said in the hit comedy “Talladega Nights” that, “if you’re not first, you’re last.” Coleman might not agree with that claim after nearly winning four tournaments last week.
The New Jersey-born poker pro first took second place for €83,077 plus bounties in a €10,200 buy-in Mystery Bounty event that attracted 65 players. Punnat Punsri won the tournament, although a heads-up chop had been arranged.
Coleman, two days later, took second for €292,398 to Jeremy Ausmus in a 45-entrant €20,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament.
The third runner-up finish, this one paying €332,900, came just two days later (Aug. 22) in the 50-entrant €30,000 Super High Roller Warm-Up. Klemens Roiter, who won his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet this summer, took it down for €507,785.
One final runner-up finish occurred the following day in a €100,000 buy-in EPT Super High Roller for €1,148,755. Leon Sturm won the 47-entry field for €1,450,385 after a heads-up deal had been reached.
Coleman cashed for USD $2,164,035 (plus mystery bounties) in the four events from Aug. 18-23. He now has over $11.3 million in live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob.
The four-time EPT Barcelona runner-up won six high roller tournaments last year, all on American soil. He also finished fifth in 2024 at the EPT Barcelona Main Event for €398,950.
Speaking of the EPT Barcelona Main Event, PokerNews is currently live reporting the 2025 edition, which moved on to Day 3 on Wednesday at Casino Barcelona.
