Kölsch is a top-fermented German beer style that originated in Cologne in 874 AD. It is a light-colored, pale gold to light gold beer with a high clarity and a delicate white head. Kölsch has a light, vinous character with a slightly dry, crisp finish. It has a lightly fruity yeast note in aroma and taste, as well as a pleasant hoppy bitterness. Kölsch tends to be light and drinkable, often with a touch of subtle fruitiness and spice like an ale but with a crisper, cleaner finish you would expect from a pale lager. These attributes make Kölsch an extremely quaffable style of beer that still has a bit of integrity and is perfect for any occasion.
Best Day Brewing Kolsch Style Non Alcoholic Beer
Best Day describes their Kölsch as “light, crisp, and easy drinking with a nice toasty malt character and lighter hopping. The combination of malts and hops create a refreshingly complex Kölsch-style ale. The crisp and clean finish leaves you wanting another sip.” Best Day says it pairs well with Sunshine, Trailheads & Fish Tacos. Best Day Kölsch has 55 calories, 11g carbohydrates, 1g sugar, 3g protein and 0g fat. It has a “Very Good” rating on Beer Advocate.
We liked this beer a lot. It was very drinkable and passed our main test of “beer that tastes like beer.” Having tried a lot of different non alcoholic beers, this is one of our favorites. It is an excellent alternative to a regular beer on a night you feel like having a beer but do not want to drink alcohol.
