Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club History
Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club opened in Las Vegas in 2019 in partnership with Caesars Entertainment. The club aims to capture the spirit of classic Vegas, Kimmel’s hometown, with late-night shows, surprise guests, high-end casual cuisine, and memorabilia. The club showcases comedians ranging from household names to up-and-coming talent curated by Kimmel and his team in a venue specifically designed by Jimmy. The venue has an expandable showroom that seats up to 300 guests.
We had been to Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club once before and decided to go again the day after going to a show at The Comedy Cellar. Part of the reason was to compare the two venues. It is best to read our Comedy Cellar review first at Comedy Cellar.
The Entrance to the Club
Jimmy Kimmel’s is located off The Linq Promenade, a great outdoor walking area with shops and restaurants. Anyone can walk in the front door. There were no menacing signs, security personnel or metal detectors. The waiting area inside had a bar, comfortable couches, and two very large big screen televisions. It was a very nice place to wait until they let you into the club upstairs. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
The Venue
The venue itself was upstairs from the waiting area. It was very different from the Comedy Cellar. There were high ceilings, it was more upscale and it did not have “an underground vibe.” Some chairs faced the stage with little tables for drinks and food. The chairs were padded and comfortable. Like the Comedy Cellar, there also were long tables perpendicular to the stage. However, there was a lot of space between chairs and rows of chairs. The chairs at the long tables were placed at a 45 degree angle for a better view of the stage with enough space to turn them further. There were no slides to turn off cell phones. The beer menu was somewhat limited but did include four selections from local Las Vegas craft breweries.
Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club – The Show
The show featured three comedians, the host, the opener and the headliner. Like the Comedy Cellar, they were generally OK, not great, not terrible. The lineup was not geriatric however. Again, we are only reviewing the venue here.
Also like the Comedy Cellar, all of the comedians interacted with the audience. While I did not find the actual show to be that funny, all of the comedians gave off a pleasant and positive vibe to connect with the audience. No one scolded of the audience.
Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club – The Bottom Line
We really like this place. We have been there twice and both times it has been a pleasant experience. The waiting room to get into the club is very comfortable, the staff is friendly and the venue itself is excellent in every way. We plan to go again the next time we are in Las Vegas.
