Orny Adams Background
Comedian Orny Adams is the stage name of Adam Jason Orenstein. He is mainly known as a stand-up comedian, but also played Coach Bobby Finstock on the MTV series Teen Wolf. Orny has appeared on several late night talk shows, Comedy Central and Showtime comedy specials, and the Netflix documentary “Comedian” starring Jerry Seinfeld. Orny is known as an “observational comic.” He is originally from the Boston area.
Orny Adams Show Review
My wife and I were in Las Vegas and looking for a show to go to when we saw that Comedian Orny Adams was at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club. I had never heard of Orny, but I saw that he was from Boston like myself. We were able to buy front row seats at a significant discount at Vegas.com. So we decided to check him out.
The host and opener at the show were pretty funny. But the second Orny walked on stage, I knew immediately he was going to be great. I have never laughed so hard at a comedy show.
What made this show so great? I estimate that 75% of the show was ad-libbed, with Orny interacting with and making observations about the crowd. At one point the waitress served the couple at the next table from us with two large plates filled with samplers from every item on the menu. Orny stopped and looked at them and blurted out “That’s a lot of food.” He then grabbed our table and moved it over to them to help them make room for the large plates. He checked in on them a few more times during the show to see what they had eaten. Other audience targets included a woman who couldn’t explain the Louisiana purchase and a man wearing a tank top t-shirt. The show was so much better than a fully scripted set.
Orny Adams Show Review – The Bottom Line
The show was so good that we considered going again the next night. We did not, a decision I regretted after seeing a mediocre magic show instead. But we are now planning our Las Vegas trips for when Orny is in town.
Orny Adams has a significant presence on most social media platforms with full length shows and highlight clips. I recommend that you check them out if you can’t make it to one of his shows.
