The Non Alcoholic Beer Market
Collective Arts is a brewer of non alcoholic beers like Collective Arts Non Alcoholic IPA, as well as alcoholic beverages. The non alcoholic beer market has grown rapidly in recent years with the introduction of non alcoholic beers that taste more like regular beer. Non alcoholic beers have several health advantages over regular beers, including fewer calories, sugar, carbs and of course, alcohol. Non alcoholic means less than 0.5% alcohol, so non alcoholic beers can still have traces of alcohol.
Athletic Brewing is the current market leader in non alcoholic beers with an approximate 19% market share. More and more specialty non alcoholic breweries are entering the market, as well as traditional breweries like Collective Arts. Not a day goes by without some news story about the rise of non alcoholic beer and societal trends towards reducing alcohol intake.
Collective Arts
Collective Arts was formed in 2013 with a vision to make the world a more creative place by being the most creative beverage company in the world. They fuse the creativity of craft beverages with the inspired talents of artists worldwide, featuring limited-edition works of art on their labels, merchandise, and more. Their website is as much focused on artwork as it is on their beers, cider, gin, rum and other beverages.
I am trying not to be too sarcastic, but I have never cared about what the label on a beer looks like; only what the beer tastes like. I would rather see a brewery focus on the quality of the beer and not the artwork on the label. Maybe this matters more for high end alcohol that is frequently given as a gift, but it should not matter for a $2.00 beer can that will discarded after consumption.
Collective Arts Non Alcoholic IPA
Non Alcoholic IPA is one of Collective Arts’ four non alcoholic beers. The brewery describes the beer as “This Non-Alcoholic IPA tastes like the real deal! We brewed our Non-Alc IPA to be true to our award winning IPAs – with huge amounts of flavourful Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic hops which give an amazing character of bright citrus, juicy tropical fruit and hints of fresh pine. Perfect for any celebration, concert or just kicking back!” It has no rating on Beer Advocate and 3.54 out of 5 on Untappd.
Non Alcoholic IPA has 0.4% ABV, 80 calories, 18g carbs, 1g protein and 0g fat. There is no IBU information.
Our Review of Collective Arts Non Alcoholic IPA
If you read our post about ProofNoMore, I bought 35 single non alcoholic beers to try. I started with non alcoholic beers from large well known breweries and followed that up with craft breweries. Then I moved on to non alcoholic breweries, starting with Athletic Brewing Lite, which was better than expected. Next were three from Partake Brewing, which were incredibly good with low calories and carbs. Now on to two from Collective Arts.
The Tasting
I did not like this beer from the first sip. I hadn’t read the description and just assumed it was a standard non alcoholic IPA. It tasted like fruit to me, possibly grapefruit. I took a few more sips and it was the same. Later I finished it off with a meal and it was a little better. Compared to the Partake Brewing IPA I had a few days earlier, it was a real letdown in taste. Plus it had 70 more calories and 18g more carbs. I wouldn’t buy it again.
