Abita Brewing
Abita Brewing is based in Louisiana and brews an eclectic collection of beers, hop water, root beer, hard tea and more, including Amber Lager. The brewery opened in 1986 thirty miles north of New Orleans. They produced 1,500 barrels of beer in their first year and in 1994 moved a larger facility nearby while keeping the original site as a 100-seat brew pub and restaurant. The brew pub and restaurant are open to the public seven days a week.

Our Review of Abita Brewing Amber Lager Beer
My favorite style of beer is amber or red ales and lagers, especially Figueroa Mountain Danish Red Lager. When I saw Abita Brewing Amber Lager available as a single at Total Wine and More, I wanted to try it.
Beer Advocate is spot on this time. It is just “Okay.” Amber Lager tastes like a basic lager beer, just a bit better than a mass market lager. It does not compare to Danish Red Lager. The Figueroa Mountain beer has a richer flavor and a much cleaner taste without any aftertaste. If I was at a party and this was the beer they were serving, I would drink it. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it again.
For better lager beer recommendations, try Warsteiner German Pilsener, Weihenstephaner Original Premium and Figueroa Mountain Danish Red Lager.
