The Non Alcoholic Beer Market
Go Brewing is a brewer of non alcoholic beers like Sunshine State Tropical IPA. The non alcoholic beer market has grown rapidly in recent years with the introduction of non alcoholic beers that taste more like regular beer. Non alcoholic beers have several health advantages over regular beers, including fewer calories, sugar, carbs and of course, alcohol. Non alcoholic means less than 0.5% alcohol, so non alcoholic beers can still have traces of alcohol.
Athletic Brewing is the current market leader in non alcoholic beers with an approximate 19% market share. More and more specialty non alcoholic breweries like Go Brewing are entering the market, as well as traditional breweries. Not a day goes by without some news story about the rise of non alcoholic beer and societal trends towards reducing alcohol intake.

Our Review of Sunshine State Tropical IPA
If you read our post about ProofNoMore, I bought 35 single non alcoholic beers to try. I started with non alcoholic beers from large well known breweries and followed that up with craft breweries. Then I moved on to non alcoholic breweries, starting with Athletic Brewing Lite, which was better than expected. Many of these were very good and barely discernable from beers with alcohol, but some were downright bad. Next was Go Brewing, starting with Head On American Wheat with Orange Peel, which was not good. Prophets Hazy IPA was better, and next up is Sunshine Tropical IPA.
The Tasting
I had major concerns about this beer before I even tasted it. The calories, carbs and sugar are off the chart for a non alcoholic beer. Its only advantage is the minimal alcohol. Add in my dislike for fruit flavored beers, peaches and mangoes, and my expectations were very low.
If you watch the video, my initial reaction was very negative. But then I finished the rest with a meal and it wasn’t as bad as I first thought. But this beer is not for me. If you like IPAs with a hint of fruit flavor, then it may be a good choice. We gave it a “3 beers out of 5” rating and not lower because it is what it is supposed to be. It tastes more like an IPA than Go Brewing’s Hazy IPA.
If you like IPAs, Athletic Brewing Run Wild and Free Wave, Sierra Nevada Trail Pass IPA and Figueroa Mountain Hikers High are better choices.
