Constellation Brands
Constellation Brands imports Pacifico Clara Beer from Mexico into the United States. The company also imports Modelo Beer, Corona, Wine, Vodka, Bourbon and other alcoholic beverages.
Pacifico Clara Beer
The company describes Pacifico Clara as “a pilsner-style lager with a crisp, refreshing flavor. Pacifico is brewed with high-quality ingredients, including premium two-and-six-row barley, the finest variety of hops and special malts roasted through a unique process.” Like its sister beer Corona Extra, the company’s advertising positions the beer as the one to drink at the beach or to feel like you are at the beach, or just generally chilling out.
Pacifico Clara has a 4.4% ABV, 1.1g protein, 14.3 carbs, 15 IBU and 143 calories. It has a “Poor” rating on Beer Advocate.
Our Review of Pacifico Clara
I returned to the venue which previously had only three choices for beer, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Heineken and Corona Extra. This time they had ditched the Corona and replaced it with Pacifico. I hadn’t tried Pacifico in years, so I went with it this time.
The beer was awful. It tasted like cheap beer with a horrible aftertaste. It was not clean, crisp or refreshing. I did not want to go to the beach to go surfing. I could barely finish it. Everything that Pacifico says about the beer and its beginnings is just plain wrong. Maybe it was refreshing to those surfers who first brought Pacifico to the United States in the 1970s, but this is 50 years later and there are so many better choices. It was so bad that I longed for a Corona. I don’t know how it even achieved a “poor” rating on BeerAdvocate when Corona got an “awful” rating. Corona and Modelo are much better than Pacifico Clara.
If you want to drink an imported Mexican pilsner or lager from the same company, we recommend Modelo Especial or Corona Extra.
