The Beer Industry
Constellation Brands imports Modelo Especial from Mexico into the United States. It is the top selling beer in the United States and is everywhere at sports stadiums, arenas, Las Vegas and other large gatherings. It is the very definition of a mass market beer and it overtook Bud Light as the best selling beer in America for reasons which we will not address here. Constellation Brands also imports Corona Beer, Wine, Vodka, Bourbon and other alcoholic beverages.
Modelo Especial
Constellation Brands describes Modelo Especial as having “Well-balanced taste and light hop character with a crisp, clean finish. It is characterized by an orange blossom honey aroma with a hint of herb. It contains Water, Barley Malt, Non-malted Cereals and Hops. Brewed as a model of what good beer should be, this rich, full-flavored Pilsner-style Lager delivers a crisp, refreshing taste.”
Modelo Especial has a 4.4% ABV, 1.1g protein, 13.6 carbs, a 18 IBU and 143 calories. It has a “Poor” rating on Beer Advocate.
Our Review of Modelo Especial
Normally I would not drink Modelo Especial. This has nothing to do with politics. I just do not like mass market beers. However, one day I bought a six pack of cans to make beer can chicken. This is a recipe where you shove a half full beer can up the chicken’s backside and grill it. It makes a pretty tasty grilled chicken and I am sure you can find recipes from others. One night I was low on beer and decided to try a Modelo. It wasn’t terrible. It’s light and refreshing and better than most inexpensive mass market beers. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it again but it served its purpose.
