The Non Alcoholic Beer Market
Guinness in recent years introduced Guinness 0, a non alcoholic version of Guinness Draught. Non alcoholic beers have several health advantages over regular beers, including fewer calories, sugar, carbs and of course, alcohol. Non alcoholic means less than 0.5% alcohol, so non alcoholic beers can still have traces of alcohol. The non alcoholic beer market has been growing rapidly. Major beer companies have introduced non alcoholic versions of their best sellers.
Guinness 0 Non Alcoholic Beer
This is how Guinness describes its non alcoholic beer: “Guinness 0 boasts a beautifully smooth taste, perfectly balanced flavor, and unique dark color, similar to Guinness Draught, brewed to be non-alcoholic.”
“To create Guinness 0 the St James’s Gate brewers start by brewing Guinness exactly as they always have, using the same natural ingredients; water, barley, hops, and yeast; before gently removing the alcohol through a cold filtration method. The cold filtration process allows the alcohol to be filtered out without presenting thermal stress to the beer, protecting the integrity of its taste and character. The brewers then carefully blend and balance the flavors to ensure the distinctive flavor profile and taste characteristics of Guinness.”
“The resulting product is a non-alcoholic stout that is unmistakably Guinness, inspired by the same dark, ruby red liquid and creamy head, hints of chocolate and coffee, smoothly balanced with bitter, sweet and roasted notes.”
Guinness 0 comes in a 14.9 Oz. can with the nitro widget like the regular Draught for a soft foamy texture. The 14.9 oz. can has about 70 calories, 17g carbohydrates and 0g fat. But don’t be fooled by the “0” in the name and advertisements. It still may have up to 0.5% alcohol. It has a low 28 IBU. It has a “Very Good” rating on Beer Advocate.
Our Review of Guinness 0
Guinness 0 is basically a non-alcoholic version of Draught. The bottom line is if you like Draught, you will probably like Guinness 0 as an alternative. If you don’t like Draught, it is very likely you will not like Guinness 0. Not particularly insightful, but accurate. Guinness 0 is an excellent alternative when you feel like having a Guinness but do not want to drink alcohol.
