Our Review of Michelob Ultra

I have probably seen Michelob ULTRA commercials 1000s of times. The ads target the young and athletic generation that wants to drink a beer that won’t interfere with an active lifestyle. It is the number one selling beer in the US right now, but I have never had one. When I posted a video about Lagunitas DayTime IPA and referred to other light beers as “lousy,” one viewer went on the attack, laughing at me for calling best selling beers “lousy.” However, Beer Advocate reviews show that the majority of reviewers also don’t like Michelob Ultra.
So I had to try one. In this video, I refer to it as “terrible,” but that is probably unfair. Michelob Ultra did not taste “awful” per se; it tasted like a watered down light beer. I was willing to drink the whole bottle and did not just pour it down the sink. My guess is that it is better than Miller Lite, Bud Light and Coors Light, but I have not had any of those for years. I understand the desire to drink a beer that has less alcohol, carbs and calories, but there are better choices than mass market light beers.
For a better light beer recommendation, try Lagunitas DayTime IPA.
